Twelfth Night & The Merchant of Venice
‘Just wanted to say HUGE congratulations – Twelfth Night was superb last night –
I loved every minute of it!!!! The cast was fantastic – the setting wonderful!’

‘Smith plays Antonio with a sense of maturity, duty to his friends, and with a little
of the obstinacy of old age. …Jeffrey gives the standout performance as the little old
Jew – intense, devout, and hugely passive-aggressive…A great night out.’
(Time Out)
‘I saw both your productions this year, after 5 years away from Australia and
thoroughly enjoyed them both. I have passed on the details, to friends and
encouraged them to attend.’

2009 festival – 8 Jan – 15 Feb
The Comedy of Errors & Macbeth
‘Indeed, throughout [The Comedy of Errors], Baz, via the medium of outstanding
actors, proves worth her weight in comedic gold!…All-in-all, Baz has done as good
a job as, well, (the other) Baz, in hitting just the right notes with this very amusing
play….’
(Australian Stage)
‘Just got home from Comedy of Errors. Excellent production. Dynamic and
absorbing. Great audience engagement. Much better production than when we saw
the same play at The Globe in 2006. Well done.’

‘A sensibility for elegant simplicity seems to, well, reign: more power to them!…
The Sydney Shakespeare Festival has punched, even above its weight, in its
production of [Macbeth] one of Shakespeare’s perennials.’

2008 festival – 11 Jan – 17 Feb
Much Ado About Nothing
‘I saw your show last night and it was fantastic. Next year I will be fighting for a
place to sit because as word gets around the audience will be much bigger. Thank
you for giving me such an enjoyable night and please do another one next year.’

‘Shakespeare Stars in Glebe…Enjoy a night of sophisticated theatre in the lovely
summer settings of the Glebe Foreshore with the backdrop of the harbour, Anzac
Bridge and the city skyline.’
(City News)
‘A large cast plays it for all it’s worth…The slight threat of inclemency did nothing
to dampen the enthusiasm and affection of the crowd, which was not only for the
genius of the writer, but extent to which cast and director had realized his
intentions…In short, the Sydney Shakespeare Festival is a precious addition to the
scant presence of Shakespeare in Sydney. Stratford-Upon-Avon calling!’
(Australian Stage)
‘Just wanted to pass my appreciation on to everyone responsible for the production
of Much Ado About Nothing. A couple of friends and I took our 9 year olds along to
the show on Saturday night. Turned out to be a great decision…The adults thought
it was great too!’
