Established in 2007, the annual Sydney Shakespeare Festival has fast become a fixture on Sydney’s summer calendar. Shakespeare’s plays have captured the imagination of millions of people throughout the world for over 400 years and are as exciting and provocative now as the day they were written. Our ongoing mission is to:

  • Stage the festival in a relaxed, family friendly environment that encourages audiences to enjoy a picnic and take in the spectacular views of Sydney harbour and city skyline as they experience the pure genius of Shakespeare and the thrill of outdoor theatre.
  • Entertain, challenge and inspire audiences with productions that illuminate meaning, expand understanding and deepen appreciation of Shakespeare’s plays.
  • Provide a free and accessible festival for children, people with disabilities and older people and an affordable and accessible festival for all other members of the community.
